Channel 4 announced yesterday that Bear Grylls is set to host a new series called ‘Survive the Sesh’.
The Ibiza season has now come to an end, but the island won’t be quiet for long. Bear Grylls will be inviting 12 of the UK’s top sesh gremlins to party on the island for 6 weeks. Their challenge? To play hard, party harder, and ultimately, survive a gruelling 6 week session on the world’s most notorious party island.
We caught up with Bear to ask him about the new series. “I’ve picked 12 of the hottest names on the UK session scene. Each has a unique personality and promises to bring their A-game to Ibiza. I’ve been a part of some really tough challenges in my time, but Survive the Sesh, I believe, is going to top them all! I can’t wait to start filming!”
Contestants will be given the basic sesh survival provisions, such as bottles of water, alcohol, Garys, Kezza, MDMA and balloons. Their goal is to become King or Queen of the sesh by traveling to some of the island’s most famous venues including Amnesia, DC-10, Sankeys and Space, which closed at the start of October, but will open it’s doors once again for the finale of Survive the Sesh.
Names such as Seth Troxler, Adam Beyer, Marco Corola, Solardo, Nina Kraviz and Martinez Brothers to name a few have been invited to provide the contestants with a non-stop soundtrack over the 6 week session. For the series finale at Space, Carl Cox will return to grace the decks and play another 10-hour vinyl set. The finale will be broadcasted live on Channel 4.
Each week, the Channel 4 audience will have the chance to vote for their favourite contestant. Contestants will be judged on their ability to stay awake, consume as much narcotics as possible and their overall sesh personality. Contestants will be eliminated every Sunday and given the shameful title of ‘Sesh Buzz Kill’. The last sessioner standing will take home the crown.
Episode one of Survive the Sesh is set to air in January 2017. Stay tuned…
