Man who does 130 balloons a day claims he knows the meaning of life

A teenager takes a hit off a NOS balloon at a backyard party on Saturday, July 18, 2009 in Redondo Beach, California. Along with the usual handles of cheap alcohol and beer, Partygoers inhale balloons full of nitrous oxide (NO2), causing a short high by starving the brain of oxygen, which can cause affixation and in some circumstances, death.

Gary Forsythe of Doncaster is a regular on the local rave scene. Having dabbled with numerous drugs over the past 11 years, he finally found his ‘drug of choice’ at an after party last March.

“So we was sitting out in me mates garden like after a rave and Chloe who used to date Jamie comes over with a Lidl bag full of balloons. We was like “What you got balloons for?” and she was like “Trust me Gaz. This shit will blow your mind!”

He goes on to say “She showed me how to take one. Basically blow out real hard and then suck the air back in. Keep doing it until you feel like you got bees buzzing round inside ya head”

What is nitrous oxide?
Nitrous oxide is a gas with several legitimate uses, but when inhaled it can make people feel euphoric and relaxed. This happy feeling has led to it being nicknamed ‘laughing gas’. Some people also experience hallucinations.

There are four main legitimate uses of nitrous oxide:

  • To numb pain during medical procedures such as dental work.
  • In engines to increase their power output.
  • In catering, in whipped cream aerosol cans to prevent the cream going ‘bad’and in food packaging to prevent the food from rotting.
  • Getting absolutely out of your mind at an after party

Gary now sucks up a total of 130 balloons a day. Even when he’s working at the motorway services he finds time to crack a cheeky balloon.

“I love em. They help me relax and once I’m in my element on balloon 130, I find myself talking with this man. Kinda looks like God. He’s the one that told me the meaning of life”.

Gary refused to pass comment on what it is though.
